CONDOMINIUMS IN NORTHFIELD VILLAGE ON THE CANNON

Among Northfield’s 55+ senior housing community are condominium communities for the active and independent.  Village on the Cannon is one such community.  It has 46 units overlooking the Cannon River, each independently owned.  The units vary in size and special features, from studio to two bedrooms, most with two bathrooms. Each features laundry facilities, energy-efficient fixtures among other things, and a wall of windows to enjoy the view of the nearby river and Riverside Park.  Special features include balconies, patios, or gas fireplaces.  The HOA and property management company provide, among other things, trash, recycling and composting, and media service, and an Office Manager/Concierge for needs as they arise.

Common areas at the VOC include a Community Room, Library, exercise room, guest suite for visitors, storage units, and a garage. The Community Room can be reserved for private events and is used to host classes for the Cannon Valley Elder Collegium.  The CVEC  offers a variety of classes for persons ages 50+ during three terms of the year at different locations, one of them being the Community Room.  Topics include the humanities, arts, sciences, mathematics, and social sciences. The Library provides a welcome place to meet for coffee and chats, find something new to read, or get-together with others.

The Riverside Park across the way sports pickleball courts, seasonal farmer’s markets, trails for walking biking, picnic areas, and access for kayaks and canoes.  Within walking distance, VOC residents will find year-round activities and seasonal festivals hosted by Carleton College, St. Olaf College, and the city of Northfield.  Living and learning is alive and well at Village on the Cannon.
